When you visit Drummoyne Optometry, we won’t rush you. We allow 30-45 minutes for your eye test and take a detailed history from you, with time to discuss any symptoms that concern you.
We measure your visual acuity – how well you can see – and assess your eyes for new visual acuity and optical correction. We also check your eye muscle balance and your eye health, looking for signs of cataract, macular degeneration, diabetes-related eye changes, glaucoma and other eye conditions.
We may also conduct some additional tests such as digital retinal photography to monitor your eye health, a visual field test for your peripheral vision and a colour vision assessment to check for colour vision deficiency.
At Drummoyne Optometry, we work closely with ophthalmologists and other medical professionals throughout inner west Sydney and beyond. If we have any concerns following your eye test with us, we will refer you for further examination and opinion.
It’s a common question and we’re happy to say no, generally there is no discomfort experienced during an eye test. We may have to put drops in your eyes to check your eye pressure or dilate your pupils but any blurred vision you may have as a result normally resolves in a couple of hours.
At Drummoyne Optometry, our fees are affordable and we offer Medicare Bulk Billing if eligible. We also have HICAPS electronic private health fund claiming. Please bring your Medicare card and your private health fund card to your appointment.
