Eye Test – See Clearly, Feel Sure

If your vision has shifted or your eyes feel tired, putting off an eye test is completely understandable. For over 30 years, Drummoyne Optometry has helped our inner-west community see clearly and feel genuinely looked after.

Are These Things Happening to You?

You do not need a diagnosis to book. Trust what you are noticing.

Your vision feels blurry, either up close, at a distance, or both
Headaches appear after a long day at the screen or behind the wheel
You are squinting more than you used to
Reading feels like harder work than it should
Your eyes feel dry, gritty, or irritated, particularly in air-conditioned spaces
Night driving has become less comfortable
You have noticed floaters or flashes that seem to be increasing
You have a family history of glaucoma, macular degeneration, cataracts, or
diabetes and have not had your eyes assessed recently
You simply cannot remember the last time your eyes were properly checked

Any one of these is reason enough to book an eye exam in Drummoyne. Most of these concerns are straightforward to address once they are properly assessed, and knowing what is going on always puts you in a better position than guessing

Vision Problems We Commonly See

Myopia

One of the most common vision conditions in Australia. People with myopia can see close objects clearly but find distance vision blurry, whether that is road signs, the board at work, or faces across the room. Myopia can develop gradually, which is why regular eye checks are so useful for catching it early.

Hyperopia

Often missed because the eye initially compensates by working its focusing muscles harder. Over time this leads to eye strain, persistent headaches, and difficulty concentrating during close work or reading. Many people with hyperopia do not realise they have it until a proper examination picks it up.

Presbyopia

A natural change that most people notice from their mid-forties onward, where close vision becomes harder to focus. If you have started holding your phone or a menu further away to read it, this is likely why. There are comfortable, practical solutions available.

Astigmatism

Caused by an unequal curve in the cornea or lens, astigmatism makes vision blurry or distorted at multiple distances. It is extremely common and very manageable once correctly identified and corrected.

Dry Eye

Dry, irritated, or gritty eyes are increasingly common, particularly for people working long hours on screens or living in air-conditioned environments. A comprehensive eye check helps us understand what is driving the discomfort and what will actually help.

Ophthalmopathies

These conditions can develop slowly and with very few early symptoms. Regular eye exams are one of the most effective ways to detect them early, when there are more options available. If you have a family history of any of these conditions, please do not wait.
